Airline
Star Alliance has been appointed Official Airline Network for ECCMID/ICC 2007.

Badges
Access to all scientific events and to the exhibits is only possible with your personal badge, which you have received upon registration.
All participants are requested to wear their name badge throughout the congress.
€ 30 will be charged for replacement of a lost badge. On-site changes of name badges due to incorrect submission of names and/or addresses will be charged with € 10.

Cameras and Recordings
Cassette recorders, cameras and video cameras are not allowed in lecture halls during all sessions.

CD-ROM
All accepted abstracts will be published as an electronic supplement to Clinical Microbiology and Infection (CMI) and the International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents (IJAA), the official journals of ESCMID and ISC. All accepted abstracts will be made available to the participants on CD-ROM only. No abstract book will be printed, however a second CD containing most of the full posters will be produced (sponsored by Schering-Plough).

Cloakroom / Left Luggage
A cloakroom is available on the mezzanine level in the main entrance foyer to keep your coats and bags.

CME Credits
ESCMID and ISC have applied for accreditation by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME) to provide CME credits for medical specialists (excluding the symposia organised by the industry). The EACCME is an institution of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS, www.uems.be). EACCME credits are recognised as Physician’s Recognition Award by the American Medical Association. A form for claiming CME credits will be inserted in your congress bag.

Currency
The official currency in Germany is the Euro (€).
All major credit cards are accepted in most hotels, restaurants and shops.

Electricity
The electrical power supply in Germany is 220 volts.

ESCMID and ISC booth
During the congress, ESCMID and ISC staff will be happy to answer your questions at their societies’ booths. The ESCMID and ISC booths are located on level 1 next to the passage to the exhibition hall.

Network Corner
Opposite the ESCMID and the ISC booths, you will find the Network Corner.
ESCMID Study Groups, ISC Working Groups, EUCAST and related organisations like EARSS and ESAC will be present with a poster and staff to inform about their activities. Learn about and discuss the various activities of the Societies and meet members of the Executive.

Exhibition
During the congress an industrial exhibition will be arranged. Companies from all over the world will be given ample opportunity to display their latest products, services and technical innovations (see Exhibition for a list of exhibitors). The exhibition is located in Hall C1, together with the poster exhibition.

Final Programme

Insurance
The congress organisers cannot accept liability for personal injuries sustained, or for loss or damage of property belonging to congress participants (or their accompanying persons), either during or as a result of the congress.
Please check the validity of your own insurance.

Internet Corner
Internet terminals – available for all congress participants – will be located in the exhibition hall (sponsored by Novartis). Opening hours of Internet Corner see “Exhibition”.

The entire congress centre is equipped with Wireless-LAN. Respective cards can be purchased at the Business Centre in the main entrance foyer.

Invitation Letter
The organisers will be pleased to send a letter of invitation to any individual requesting one, once their registration form and fee have been received. It is to be understood that such an invitation is intended to help potential participants raise travel funds or obtain a visa. It is not a commitment on the part of the congress to provide any financial support. You may request such a letter from the Administrative Secretariat.

Language
The congress language is English. Simultaneous translation will not be provided.

Message Centre
A message centre for the collection and distribution of messages has been installed at the congress secretariat. Numerous display terminals throughout the congress centre will announce the names of persons for whom messages have been received. If your name appears on the screen, please proceed to the message centre to collect it.

Mobile Phones
Mobile telephones must be switched off during all sessions.

Munich
Munich is Germany’s third largest city and one of Europe’s most prosperous. The city is located on the River Isar north of the Bavarian Alps and has a population of about 1.3 Million.
Munich is a popular tourist destination and has been described as Germany’s “secret capital”. It is known for its architecture and culture, while its annual Oktoberfest beer celebration is world famous.
The Frauenkirche, the new town hall and its ornate clock with almost life-sized moving figures on the market square, the chine tower in the English Garden: There is at all times something to discover. Even on the occasion of bad weather, 46 interesting museums and the Nymphenburg Castle are worth a visit.

Taking pictures using flash lights is forbidden during all sessions.

Press
Accredited journalists are welcome to cover the 17th ECCMID / 25th ICC 2007. Please return the special registration form available on the ESCMID website www.escmid.org (media) together with a copy of your press ID.
You will also be requested to show your press identification upon registration. A fully equipped press centre will be at your disposal during the ECCMID/ICC 2007.

Smoking Policy
There is a strict no-smoking policy in the entire congress centre.

Speakers’ Service Centre (SSC)
There will be a centrally located Speakers’ Service Centre (SSC) connected to all the lecture halls. All speakers will be asked to hand in their PowerPoint presentations at the SSC at least 1 hour before their lecture.

Travel to and in Munich
Star Alliance has been appointed Official Airline Network (see “Airline” for details). The Munich airport, the second largest in Germany, offers excellent continental and intercontinental air connections to 65 countries. Favorable municipal train and subway connections make it easy to travel from the airport to the city center. The trip from the Munich Central Station/downtown to the convention center by underground takes about 20 minutes. If you travel by car, signs throughout the greater Munich area will guide you.

On Saturday, 31 March 2007, a shuttle bus from the airport to the congress center will be at your disposal. Upon registration, each participant will receive a ticket for the free use of the Munich Metro.

The “International Congress Centre Munich” (ICM) is one of the most modern congress centres in the world. It is located 20 minutes by underground from downtown Munich. It features state-of-the-art lecture halls, large foyers, purpose built exhibition halls and has just the perfect size for the joint ECCMID/ICC meeting. With its state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment it presents an ideal venue for the 17th ECCMID / 25th ICC 2007.
